					<description>i'm delighted to see intellectual qualifications being mentioned as important to a UN SG, which is precisely why I have been so intrigued by Shashi Tharoor's candidacy. Having read the two pieces cited by Draconian above, I do commend Mr Ghani, but I see nothing here that holds a candle to any of Shashi Tharoor's books or articles, notably &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.worldpolicy.org/journal/tharoor.html&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;his essay on the universality of human rights&lt;/a&gt;, his &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.shashitharoor.com/articles/foreignaffairs.html&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;Foreign Affairs piece on why the US needs the UN&lt;/a&gt;, and his essay on the Role of the Secretary-General -- all topics more directly relevant to the main work of a UN SG than Mr Ghani's areas of expertise.
